Good, old fashioned fun Jul 19, 2008 Kids of all ages love this toy! Should be supervised for toddlers and younger. For babies and toddlers, it teaches patience, fine motor skills, listening skills, sharing, following directions. It brings a smile every time. One 4-yr-old student loved mine so much that he saved his money and bought one of his own. This one was a great price. Just don't drop it - I broke my first one that way.
Great toy for toddlers Jun 15, 2008 We love this toy for infants to toddlers. We brought it for our son when he was around 15 months old and he still loves to play with it once in a while. My younger daughter was introduced to it around 8 months old and she likes it a lot as well. This is a must have classical toy that everyone should have. I recently purchased one for a friend's son turning 1 and she likes it very much as well.
Jack in the Box rewards patience and persistence with music and surprise Jun 09, 2008 I read the Amazon reviews before purchasing the Jack-In-The-Box for our son's first birthday, so I anticipated he might experience some frustration trying to crank the crank. I figured his big sister would help with that, and that he'd grow into the toy this year. So I wasn't surprised when, after his sister and parents showed him how it worked, he wanted to make it work by himself, and became upset when he couldn't immediately master the motion of turning the crank. He's a persistent little boy, though, and would keep returning to the toy to try again. Imagine my surprise a week later when I heard the strains of "Pop Goes The Weasel" coming from his play area, and I saw him proudly smiling as he turned the crank all by himself! Now he alternates using hands to turn it and plays with it for long periods. Of course, he can't yet stuff the jester back into the box himself, but I'm giving him some time to work that out, too!
the perfect jack in the box May 02, 2008 Not too cheap, not too hard to work.
Much better quality than the options I have seen in stores. Plus, I love the classic feel to it.
it should make it through two boys in my house. I am very happy with this.
Glad I bought it Feb 26, 2008 My daughter seems to love the element of surprise so I thought this would be a good toy. It was a first birthday gift. She points at it all the time so that I will take it off the shelf. We have to play with it together right now - her little hands can't quite handle it yet. She loves trying to stuff Jack back in the box. She gets impatient for him to pop up, so it is teaching her to wait for her reward! This toy is well made and will be one that we don't get rid of for a long time since it is a "classic" and not just the usual plastic junk.
